Jump to RecipeWhat’s the difference between mocktail and cocktail?
There’s one key difference between mocktails and cocktails: alcohol. As the name suggests, mocktails are essentially non-alcoholic versions of cocktails.
This makes them an ideal choice for gatherings, ensuring inclusivity for guests who prefer to not drink alcohol. Mocktails are typically made with a combination of juices, sodas, syrups, fruits, or herbs. So, you still get loads of flavour, just without the alcohol.
On the other hand, cocktails are made with a combination of alcoholic beverages and the add-ins mentioned previously.
Strawberry Lime Mocktail
Ingredients
- 3 limes
- 200 g strawberries
- 20 g mint (10 sprigs)
- 750 ml lemonade
- ice
Instructions
- Cut one lime into slices and set aside to decorate serving glasses.
- Roll the remaining limes on a flat surface to help release their juices. Cut half a lime and squeeze the juice into the pitcher. Cut the remaining limes into quarters and place them in the pitcher.
- Remove the stems from the strawberries and cut them in half. Set aside some halved strawberries to decorate serving glasses, then place the remaining strawberries in the pitcher.
- Muddle the limes and strawberries together in the pitcher, using a muddler tool or rolling pin.
- Slap the mint between your hands to release its oils. Add it to the pitcher along with some ice. Fill the rest of the pitcher with lemonade.
- Add ice, sliced limes, and halved strawberries to each serving glass. Then, pour in the strawberry lime mocktail and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
Limes
To get the most out of your limes, roll them on a flat surface before cutting them open. This helps break down the fibers inside the limes and makes it easier to extract the juice. Additionally, if you prefer a tarter flavour, feel free to squeeze more lime juice into the pitcher.
Mint Leaves
When preparing your strawberry lime mocktail, do not muddle the mint because this can lead to bitterness and discoloration. Instead, smack the mint leaves between your hands to release their oils, then add them to your strawberry lime mocktail.
Increasing Serving Size
If you find yourself needing to serve more guests or simply want to make a larger batch of this strawberry lime mocktail, you can easily scale up this recipe by adding more lemonade. This also means that when your pitcher runs low on lemonade, but still has some strawberries, limes, and mint leaves remaining, you can simply pour in more lemonade to keep the refreshing mocktail flowing.
